Monologues

Two Monologues (Scholarship Audition)

•One pre-1900 monologue in verse (Shakespeare strongly preferred)

•One contemporary monologue written post-1900, not in verse

-Strong preference for a post-1980 American play

•2 minutes maximum each

Additional Materials

Essay

•Required for scholarship: submit a brief essay about yourself, your interest in theater, and how you plan to participate in theater at UDallas

Portfolio

•Design applicants should include 10-15 portfolio pieces that best demonstrate their work

•Can include final renderings, models, photos of finished production work, paintings, drawings, and other artistic expressions

Application Process

•Apply for admission via Common App or UDallas Application

•Complete the Drama Departmental Scholarship Application via the UDallas portal

•Attach supplemental materials to the online application or email to admissions@udallas.edu

Scholarship Eligibility

•Open to high school seniors and transfer students

•Not required to major in Drama to receive or maintain the scholarship

•Each student may apply for up to two departmental scholarships but may receive only one

•A departmental scholarship may not be added on top of a full-tuition scholarship

No Audition Required

•No audition or portfolio review is required for admission to the BA Drama program

•Admission is through the university application process

Scholarship Audition

•Optional audition for the Drama Departmental Scholarship ($1,000-$5,000/year)

•Two paths: performance audition OR design portfolio review

•Schedule an on-campus audition or portfolio review by registering for a personalized visit

•Scholarship application opens August 1, deadline December 1

•Audition or portfolio review must be completed by December 15

•$1,000-$5,000 per year

•Applied to tuition

•Renewable for four consecutive years (8 semesters)

Renewal Criteria

•Fulfill general scholarship renewal criteria

•Significant participation in Mainstage production each semester
