Application Process

•Apply for admission to UCM first

•Complete the UCM Music Admission Form (no additional fee)

•Complete the UCM Scholarship Finder for maximum scholarship eligibility

Audition Timing

•An audition is not required for admission to the BA in Music

•A scholarship audition is recommended on or before the February Music Scholarship Audition days

•If you prefer, the audition can be deferred until after you enroll — but it must happen before the end of your second year or before completing 50% of degree requirements

Music Theory Placement

•A Fundamentals of Music (theory placement) assessment helps place you in the right starting theory course — for placement only, not admission

•Optional if you plan to begin in theory fundamentals

What's The Process

Audition Format

•Prepare one piece that best demonstrates your own musical ability and interests

•A wide variety of styles is welcome — performed from memory, from notation, improvised, or your own composition

•Audition on a traditional instrument, your voice, or technology-based instruments (laptop, keyboard, DJ controller, synthesizer, electric guitar with effects, and more)

•The audition includes a conversation about your musical background, experience, and interests

•In-person, video, and Zoom auditions are welcome

Purpose

•The audition is for scholarship consideration and applied-lesson placement — it is not required for admission

Accompaniment

•An accompanist can be made available if requested well in advance; bring clear printed music
