•Bullet: Audition required for departmental admission; no student may declare any music major without this audition

•Bullet: Complete the Basic Musicianship Evaluation (brief test of rudimentary music skills)
•Bullet: Piano placement audition also required (proficiency not required for admission)
•Bullet: November 22: 1st deadline for department review
•Bullet: January 24: 2nd deadline for department review
•Bullet: February 28: final deadline for scholarship consideration
•Bullet: May 1: NASM binding date for undergraduates
Audition Expectations

Sight-Reading
•Bullet: Sight-reading is part of the audition
Repertoire Note
•Bullet: Avoid short two-page pieces from standard classical anthologies; popular and religious arrangements are not acceptable
Repertoire & Technique
•Bullet: Perform two works selected from the categories below, all by memory:
•Bullet: An etude by Chopin or Moszkowski
•Bullet: A major work from the Baroque period
•Bullet: A major work from the Classical period
•Bullet: A major work from the Romantic period
•Bullet: A major work from the French Impressionists or the later 20th century
Scales & Technique
•Bullet: Play major and minor scales and arpeggios at two or three octaves
