Audition Process
•Audition required for departmental admission; no student may declare any music major without this audition
•Audition also determines scholarship eligibility
•Complete the Basic Musicianship Evaluation (brief test of rudimentary music skills)
•Piano placement audition also required (proficiency not required for admission)

•In-person by appointment on Audition Days
•Zoom audition by appointment on Audition Days
•URL submitted through Music Department Application (last resort)
Important Dates
•November 22: 1st deadline for department review
•January 24: 2nd deadline for department review
•February 28: final deadline for scholarship consideration
•May 1: NASM binding date for undergraduates
Applied Audition
•Audition on your principal applied instrument or voice (required of all music majors)
•Voice: one English piece and one foreign-language piece, memorized; instrumental/piano: contrasting repertoire plus sight-reading
Composition Review
•Notify the composition faculty during the first semester of the freshman year
•Composition portfolio is reviewed by the composition faculty
•Applicants typically take MUS 2233 Composition Class in the spring of the freshman year
