Songs

Repertoire

•Vocalists should be prepared to perform repertoire at the RCM Grade X level

•Jazz voice applicants are listed with the March 11 music audition group

•Auditioned students are assessed on technique, performance, talent, potential, and musicality

Accompaniment

•Jazz applicants should perform with pre-recorded accompaniment

•A sound system with Bluetooth connection is provided for jazz auditions

Additional Materials

Scores / GPA

•GPA/proof if required: Royal Conservatory Advanced Rudiments or Level 8 Theory; ABRSM Level 5 is also accepted

•GPA/proof alternative: complete the online theory diagnostic exam during audition week

•GPA/proof alternative: MUSI 209 Introduction to Music Theory is the final method of satisfying the requirement

•GPA/proof is submitted through the Theory To-Do list item when required

Video

•Video audition only: upload a Word or PDF document in Student Centre with applicant name, UCID, audition video link or links, and password if needed

•Submit the BMus audition application form after the general application

•Jazz Voice auditions are listed with the March 11 music audition group

Audition Process

•Select in-person or video audition in the UCalgary application

•In-person auditions are preferred

•Video audition is available when the home address is more than 150 km from the University of Calgary

•Auditioned students are assessed on technique, performance, talent, potential, and musicality

•Sight-reading and technique may be included as part of the audition
