•Bullet: The General Studies major pairs UBC's Bachelor of Music core with study on a chosen instrument or voice — bassoon, cello, clarinet, double bass, euphonium, flute, guitar, harp, horn, oboe, percussion, piano, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, tuba, viola, violin, or voice
•Bullet: Repertoire expectations are lighter than the Performance major — for example, two pieces at Grade 6 RCM level for guitar, or two contrasting works at Grade 10 RCM/ARCT level for piano, organ, or harpsichord — with full instrument-by-instrument lists published on the School of Music's audition requirements page
•Bullet: Students with strong aptitude for music theory, history, or ethnomusicology research may transfer internally into the Music Scholarship major at the start of third year
