Optional Musical Theatre Song

Applicants may include one song from the musical theatre repertoire

Song may be up to one minute

Total audition video may not exceed nine minutes when a song is included

Monologues

Requirements

Three Contrasting Monologues

Prepare one contemporary comedic monologue

Prepare one contemporary dramatic monologue

Prepare one Shakespeare or other classical monologue

Total monologue time may not exceed eight minutes

Application Logistics

The MFA Theatre program admits a unified cohort every three years; the current 2026-2029 cohort is at full capacity

Recruitment for the next cohort (2029-2031) begins fall 2028

Off-cycle Acting applicants may occasionally be considered; contact Amy Herzberg at herzberg@uark.edu before applying

The Submittable Acting form remains available for possible additional-slot review; rolling review applies only if a slot opens

Formal Graduate School application is only required after departmental admission

GRE is not required

Acting applicants submit a preliminary video audition

The video includes three contrasting monologues and may include an optional song

Scholarship Info

Graduate Support

Graduate assistantships cover all tuition (excluding fees) and provide a minimum nine-month stipend of $17,325 per academic year

The Graduate School also offers competitive merit-based fellowships

Department funding remains available until positions are filled

Design assistantships include lab assignments and tuition support excluding fees
