Application Logistics

Apply to UND via Common App or direct application portal

Schedule a scholarship audition via the UND Music online form

Complete FAFSA for scholarship eligibility

UND application deadlines: Aug. 15 (fall), Dec. 15 (spring), May 1 (summer)

Complete all scholarship submissions before February 1 for full consideration

Important Notes

Admission to UND is by university application; the music audition is for scholarship consideration, not required for admission

Admitted music majors take a music theory and aural-skills placement assessment for course placement only, not admission

What's The Process

Audition Process

Live auditions take place on campus; recorded video submission is also available

Email unlisted YouTube video links to und.music@und.edu for recorded auditions

If you cannot attend a scheduled date, email UND Music to arrange an alternate audition

Audition Expectations

Prepare a scholarship audition on your principal instrument or voice using UND Music's requirements for that area

Woodwind, brass, or percussion: two contrasting solos or one solo and one etude, plus a chromatic scale, one major scale, and sight-reading

Strings: two contrasting solos or one solo and one etude, plus major and melodic minor scales and sight-reading

Voice: two contrasting classical solos from memory, one in a foreign language, plus sight-reading and tonal memory

Piano or guitar: two contrasting works plus scales and sight-reading under the instrument requirements

Scholarship offers are sent in March
