Training
Comprehensive curriculum covering all aspects of sound for theater, dance, opera and film in a collaborative conservatory environment
First-second years focus on foundational skills including audio technology, recording, editing, and theatrical sound systems
No formal training in Sound Design required for applicants — faculty look for passion for artistic engagement and serious discourse
Performance & Productions
Third-fourth years spend minimum 20 hours per week working on at least 14 actual productions across multiple performance venues
Practical experience covers variety of theatrical spaces from flexible black-box venues to large-scale Broadway-type stages
Students gain progressive responsibility as sound designers and audio engineers for fully staged productions
Professional Development
Graduates work in sound design for Broadway, regional theater, dance, opera, film, television and themed entertainment
Alumni serve as department heads, freelance sound designers, system designers at international audio-visual companies, and install technicians in system integration firms
