Training
Lighting design covers every area of contemporary performance: theater, concerts, themed entertainment, trade shows and industrials
First two years build core skills in color, design, drafting, drawing, photometrics, fixed and automated luminaires, computer-aided design and programming across industry-standard platforms
Third year students choose either Lighting Design or Lighting Technology track based on interests and abilities
Performance & Productions
Students design and implement lighting for the school's 20-plus productions each year
No one genre dominates — students work on spoken plays, musicals, dance and opera productions from diverse cultures and periods
Variety of venues from intimate black-box spaces to large-scale theaters to test and hone creativity

Al Crawford — Knight of Illumination Award winner, lighting director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater since 1998, founder of Arc3design
Joe Levasseur — two-time Bessie Award winner for lighting design, Knight of Illumination Award recipient
John McKernon — Distinguished Achievement Award in Lighting Design, creator of Lightwright software (2004 Eddy Award), credits include dozens of Broadway productions
