Requirements

Video AUDITIONS: Two Contrasting Monologues

Not to exceed two minutes total

Slate/introduce yourself and your monologues in the video (not included in the 2-minute time limit)

Live Auditions: Three Monologues

Two contrasting monologues not to exceed two minutes combined

One additional contrasting monologue not to exceed one minute

All applicants required to perform the two contrasting monologues; may be asked to perform the third

In-person auditions scheduled in 3-minute slots — Slate/introduction and 2 monologues must fit within 3 minutes; if faculty wish to see the third monologue, they will ask for it in the audition room

Audition season runs October through March

On-campus and virtual audition days: November 21, 2026; January 23, 2027 (virtual); February 13, 2027; March 6, 2027

Off-campus locations: Pittsburgh Unified Auditions (October 16-18, 2026, virtual), DC Unified Auditions (October 23-24, 2026, virtual), CAP United (November 14, 2026, St. Louis, MO), MARCAS (November 13-14, 2026, Glassboro, NJ), Colorado Thespian Conference (December 10-12, 2026, Denver, CO), Virginia Thespian Festival (January 9-11, 2027, virtual), Chicago Unified Auditions (February 1-3, 2027, Chicago, IL), Los Angeles Unified Auditions (February 6, 2027, Anaheim, CA)

Chicago and Los Angeles Unified Auditions: contact UNC directly to schedule an audition

Pittsburgh Unified, DC Unified, CAP United, MARCAS, Colorado Thespian Conference, and Virginia Thespian Festival: you are registered directly through that organization and do not need to contact UNC

You may be asked to submit additional audition materials by video upload for any of these off-site events

Virtual/video auditions are available for applicants unable to attend in person; upload through the UNC Application Portal
