Degree Flexibility
•The Music Minor is an 18-credit-hour add-on open to students in any major, requiring only Writing Through Music, one 300-level-or-higher music course, and 12 further credits drawn from MUE, MUS, MUP, ENS, or VPA-prefixed courses — a C or better is required throughout.
•Because the elective block spans ensemble (ENS), applied-lesson (MUP), and academic (MUS/MUE) prefixes, minors can weight the credential toward performance (private lessons and large ensembles such as Wind Ensemble or Symphonic Band), music history/theory coursework, or a mix of both.
•The minor is housed in UNCG's School of Music, continuously NASM-accredited since 1938, giving non-majors access to the same applied-lesson faculty and recital opportunities (350-seat Tew Recital Hall) as BM/BA majors rather than a separate non-major track.
