Accepted for first year only — continuation into years 2 and 3 subject to MFA faculty approval

NC residency strongly encouraged after year 1 (out-of-state tuition remission not guaranteed after first year)

Audition Process

Send resume, statement of purpose, references, and portfolio link to Triffin Morris for faculty review

Applicants who send materials before February 1 receive primary consideration

Selected applicants may be invited for an interview with class participation, conversations with current students and staff, and portfolio presentation

Interviews should ideally take place before February 28

After the interview, complete the UNC Graduate School application with transcripts, letters of recommendation, and fees before March 1

Offers are usually made in mid-March
