Program Recognition
•Intensive professional preparatory degree readying graduates for Minnesota K-12 teaching licensure as classroom choral or instrumental music educators, from "Intro to Music Education" through a final student-teaching practicum
•Three sub-plans: Instrumental (band, orchestra, or general classroom music); Choral (Piano Emphasis); and Choral (Vocal Emphasis) — each meeting Minnesota K-12 classroom/choral or instrumental licensure requirements
Training
•Instrumental sub-plan coursework covers instrumental techniques, methods, and conducting, with participation in band or orchestra plus a jazz or similar ensemble
•Both Choral sub-plans study basic and choral conducting, pedagogy, style and diction, complementary piano or voice coursework, and choral ensemble participation
•Global Student Teaching lets candidates complete their practicum abroad; an active NAfME Collegiate chapter supports preservice educators
•A post-baccalaureate music education licensure certificate is also offered for students who already hold a bachelor's degree in music
