ENROLLMENT
•Not a limited enrollment major — any UMD student may declare dance as a major or double major
•Must apply to UMD declaring dance as major (or intent to declare) by November 1 Early Action deadline to be eligible for CAPA scholarship
What's The Process
NO AUDITION REQUIRED
•No audition, portfolio presentation, or interview requirement to declare the dance major
•Auditions/interviews ARE required for upper-level dance technique classes, Main Stage productions, and CAPA scholarship
CAPA SCHOLARSHIP AUDITION
•Held in December (one audition day only, no make-ups)
•Consists of modern dance technique class, improvisation, and a solo (1-2 minutes, any style)
•Applicants must attend the entire audition day
•Separate application form required
Scholarship Info
CREATIVE AND PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS (CAPA)
•Equivalent to full in-state tuition and mandatory fees
•Awarded to gifted and talented freshman/transfer dance majors
•Renewable for up to 8 semesters with 3.0 GPA requirement
•Audition held in December for the following academic year
•Application deadline: December 12
•Recipients must maintain significant involvement in TDPS productions each semester
TDPS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD FUNDS
•Additional merit-based scholarships for current dance and theatre majors when financial circumstances allow
