TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

•Part of the School of Performing Arts within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
•Performances at the Collins Center for the Arts and other campus venues
•Active production season open to campus and public audiences
DEGREE FLEXIBILITY
•Students may double major or add a minor in another discipline
•Dance minor available — DAN courses count as credits outside the major
•Capstone experience in senior year (THE 415 + THE 416)

What's The Process
ADMISSION
•No audition required for admission to the BA Theatre degree
•Admission is through the University of Maine admissions process
SCHOLARSHIP AUDITION (OPTIONAL)
•Performance-track prospective theatre majors may elect to audition for scholarship consideration
•Auditions may be completed in person on campus or via digital recording
•Register for an audition via shopwindow.io

Scholarship Info
VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP ($3,000/year)
•Renewable for up to 8 semesters for first-year students
•Must submit complete university application by December 1
•Awarded based on demonstrated talent in theatre
THEATRE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP
•Email um.vapa@maine.edu to express interest
•Must be nominated by a drama instructor or audition in person/via video
•Must enroll as a theatre major
•Performers must audition for all department productions
•Technicians must take on one tech role per academic year
NEWDICK THEATRE SCHOLARSHIP
•For returning students only
•Based on participation in Division of Theatre and academic achievement
•Selected by Director of SPA in consultation with theatre faculty
