•Must meet standard UMD admission requirements
•Must maintain grades of C- or better in all required courses for the major
THEORY PLACEMENT EXAM
•Required before your music audition
•Download from the Music Department website and submit in advance
What's The Process
AUDITION FORMAT
•Perform before a panel of faculty members
•Auditions held on several Saturdays each spring prior to fall admission
•Additional audition times may be arranged individually
PREPARATION
•Theory placement exam must be completed and submitted before the audition
-Option to take it proctored on campus after your audition
REGISTRATION
•Sign up for an audition date via the Music Department Google Form
•May audition prior to being accepted by the university
•Acceptance contingent upon UMD admission and Music program acceptance

•Music majors compete for talent-based scholarships at audition
•Several music scholarships are renewable each year for continuing students
•Scholarship notifications sent by the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
