Audition Expectations
•Choose ONE application option: a performance audition or a digital portfolio submission
Performance Audition Option
•Declare a primary instrument or voice part and perform a Classical, Jazz, or Contemporary/Popular music audition
•Classical: two contrasting works or etudes — one technical, one expressive/lyrical
•Jazz: a prepared selection, all major scales plus the B-flat or F blues scale, blues improvisation, and instrument-specific sight-reading
•Contemporary/Popular: two works (original or by another writer); solo, self-accompanied, or with a pre-recorded backing track
INTERVIEW (required for both options)
•Interview with music faculty about your goals and experience in the music industry
•Brief music theory placement evaluation
•Attendance at a scheduled audition day (full-day event, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET)
Decisions
•Results emailed within one to two weeks after audition
