Audition Requirements
Dance
REQUIRED VIDEO #1: BALLET
•The dance faculty want to see your body alignment from the front and side
•Do some barre, center, and across the floor exercises
REQUIRED VIDEO #2: MODERN/CONTEMPORARY
•The dance faculty would like to see the following skills (in no particular order):
-Floorwork
-Inversions like handstands, cartwheels
-Turns of any kind
-Traveling moves
-Leaps, hops, jumps
-Changing of directions
-Rapid and/or complex foot moves of your choice
•Demonstrate your artistry and performance qualities
OPTIONAL VIDEO #3: YOUR CHOICE
•The dance faculty would love to see what else you do besides modern and ballet
•Can be another dance style or another movement activity connected to your dance skills

Good to Know
APPLICATION PROCESS
•Must complete both University of Houston application (Common App or ApplyTexas) and separate School of Theatre & Dance application
•Students may audition prior to being accepted into the University of Houston
SUBMISSION FORMAT
•Dance auditions are online only — no in-person auditions conducted
•Three audition video submission dates per academic year (one in fall, two in spring)
What's The Process
•Submit 2-3 short videos according to guidelines via the SOTD application portal
•Videos must be from within the recent year

Scholarship Info
•KGMCA merit-based scholarships available for academic and artistic achievement
•Out-of-state tuition waiver available for students receiving competitive UH scholarship of $1,000 or more
•Travel and project grants available for student research, residencies, and creative projects
