•Two selections (art songs or arias) from the classical music tradition in contrasting musical styles and languages

•One selection must be in a language other than English

•Selections must be performed from memory

•Apply to UH Mānoa university admission first

•Submit separate Music Department application via Mākālei portal

•Music Department application dates may differ from university deadlines

Eligibility

•Recordings will not be reviewed until the application is complete

•International students: TOEFL score of 500/173/61 or higher required

What's The Process

Audition Expectations

•Voice auditions are by appointment with Dr. Maya Sypert (msypert@hawaii.edu)

•Live audition preferred; high-quality unedited recordings accepted for students unable to come to Honolulu

•Submit audition recordings through Mākālei in MP3 format or as a link to an online portfolio

•Recordings should be uploaded with the Music Department application form

•Use highest-quality equipment available and place the microphone at least six feet from the voice

•Begin by announcing your name, intended major, and pieces to be performed

•Piano accompaniment preferred unless performing an unaccompanied work

•Decisions announced at end-of-year Closing Convocation
