Audition Process
•Students request formal acceptance into BM Composition, usually at the end of sophomore year as a music major
•Internal composition review includes a letter to composition faculty and a portfolio of at least seven original works
Audition Expectations
•All music majors audition for the music faculty
•Live audition is preferred; high-quality unedited recordings are accepted for students unable to come to Honolulu
•Recordings are submitted through Mākālei as MP3 files or online portfolio links
Recording Guidelines
•Announce your name, intended major, and the pieces you will perform
•Identify each composition by title and composer
•Piano accompaniment is preferred unless the work is intended to be unaccompanied
