Admission Pathway

No departmental application required — admission is through UGA admissions only

Open to any student admitted to the university

Transfer Pathway

The Theatre department evaluates prior theatre coursework and may apply up to 15 hours of equivalent credit toward the General A.B. path. Transfer students should expect at least four full semesters at UGA.

What's The Process

Audition Process

No audition or portfolio required for entrance to the major

General Theatre A.B. path is open to any student admitted to UGA

Prospective students encouraged to visit the department and schedule a tour with Student Support Coordinator Dina Canup

Optional Cora Nunnally Miller Scholarship consideration may include in-person interviews and auditions at the annual Behind the Scenes workshop in April

This scholarship opportunity is not required for BA Theatre admission and is offered on a rotating basis - not every year

Post-Enrollment

Musical Theatre Performance Certificate requires separate competitive auditions after UGA admission; it is not required for Theatre A.B. admission

Competitive scholarship for incoming freshmen Theatre or Film Studies majors

Offered on a rotating basis — not available every year

Shows promise in acting, design, tech, directing, writing, or all-around leadership

Chuck Baker Scholarship

Three $1,500 awards for sophomore and junior Theatre majors

Outstanding achievement in any aspect of theatre or film practice

Eddie Lambeth Scholarship

One $1,500 award for aspiring actors, screenwriters, or playwrights

Proven professional promise, outstanding character, above-average academic standing

Martin Holubar Scholarship

One $1,500 award based on love for theater and going the extra mile

Exceptional character and dedication to theatrical practice

New Georgia Group Award

Grant supporting student-initiated creative projects (plays, films, or other media)

Criteria: artistic risk-taking and new approaches in concept and expression
