Training
•Housed in the College of Creative Studies (CCS), preparing undergraduates for graduate study or careers as professional composers
•Curriculum centers on individual instruction with a composition teacher, paired with electives across the Department of Music
•Original compositions are evaluated at sophomore and junior juries; the final year culminates in a senior recital consisting entirely of the student's own works
•CCS composition faculty include Leslie Hogan and Andrew Watts, with one resident faculty member advising each student throughout the program

•Short-term residencies bring visiting composers of national and international stature to campus
•The Traveling Undergraduate Research Fund supports student research and creative projects

Degree Flexibility
•Applicants should have basic knowledge of musical rudiments, be able to read and write standard notation, and demonstrate a talent for composing; apply through the UC application and the CCS admission process
