Training
•BA Music Composition combines focused study in individual composition, contemporary techniques, theory, counterpoint, orchestration, analysis, and interdisciplinary music technology with UCSB’s broader research-university resources.
•Students develop critical, historical, technical, and creative skills through sequenced coursework and faculty mentorship.
Opportunities
•Campus productions, ensembles, screenings, laboratories, internships, independent projects, and Santa Barbara arts organizations provide practical experience.
•Students may pursue honors, research, professional preparation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
