Training
•The Music minor requires 24 upper-division units, reached through a foundational sequence of MUS 001, MUS 010, and MUS 030A/030B/030C (Harmony) or by passing a sophomore-year diagnostic exam to place directly into MUS 030, MUS 031, or higher
•Any UCR student, minors included, can join the department's ensembles — Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, Chamber Music, Chamber Singers, UCR Chorale, Collegium Musicum, Javanese Gamelan, Taiko Ensemble, Mariachi Los Alteños, and Mayupatapi
•Non-majors may also enroll in the MUS 080 (30 minutes weekly, $400/quarter) and MUS 180 (1 hour weekly, $800/quarter) private-lesson series, arranging lesson times directly with the instructor
Facilities
•The weekly Florence Bayz Music Series (Wednesdays at noon, ARTS 157) is free and open to the public, giving minors the same access to faculty and visiting-artist programming as majors
