•Advanced undergraduates serve as assistant designers or designers for CRT Studio Works

•Give the fullest picture possible of you as an artist; include projects rather than over-editing

•Clearly label each production photo, video, design, or audio clip with your specific contribution

•Include production work plus drawing, painting, or other art and design projects

•May include images, video, audio, 3D model images, YouTube/Vimeo/SoundCloud links, and linked files in the PDF or slide deck

•Include production/work experience, education, special skills, affiliations, and awards

Portfolio Content Ideas

•Sketches or drawings, drafting examples, painting, carpentry, electronics, school productions, writing samples, graphic design, sound or lighting design, computer-generated artwork, programming projects, photography, ceramics/sculpture, sewing, cosplay, or other work that expresses who you are

Application Logistics

•Submit the UConn application before the portfolio review when possible; it is strongly recommended but not required before portfolio submission

•SlideRoom portfolio is due January 1, 2026; Early Decision SlideRoom portfolios are due November 1, 2025

•University application/Common App is due January 15, 2026

•Priority freshman application deadline for merit scholarship and Honors Program consideration is December 1, 2025

•Admission decisions are not made until Undergraduate Admissions receives portfolio review results

Important Notes

•FAFSA deadline for financial aid eligibility is February 15, 2026

•Recommended: select Theatre Studies BA as second-choice major to keep another Dramatic Arts pathway open

What's The Process

Audition Process

•Submit the digital portfolio through SlideRoom by January 1, 2026

•Design and Technical Theatre faculty review the portfolio before inviting applicants to interview

•Faculty look for visual and/or aural expression, response to dramatic material, and fit with the program

•Qualifying applicants interview virtually with a member of the Design Faculty

•Interviews are 15-20 minutes and include time for applicant questions
