•Prepares candidates for entry-level positions in design, management, technology, and craft professions in theatre and entertainment
•Students study all areas: Scenery Design, Construction & Rigging, Costume Design & Construction, Lighting Design, Properties Design & Construction, and Sound Design
•Intensive training begins immediately — approximately half of courses are in the major
PERFORMANCE & PRODUCTIONS
•Coursework combined with practical work on Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) productions
•Advanced undergraduates serve as assistant designers or designers for CRT Studio Works
•Outstanding students have worked as principal designers of CRT Mainstage productions

•Chris Barreca (BFA '79) — Tony Award winner for Rocky, The Musical lighting design
•Dan Rousseau (BFA '08) — Emmy Award winner for NBC lighting direction

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
•Junior and senior BFA students participate in portfolio reviews each semester
•Students encouraged to enter U/RTA Final Competitions in NYC for positions in professional regional theatres and graduate programs
•Semester Review Exhibition Gallery each term — practice in public speaking, interviewing, and self-assessment
