Give the fullest picture possible of you as an artist; include projects rather than over-editing

Clearly label each production photo, video, design, or audio clip with your specific contribution

Good to Know

Application Logistics

Submit the UConn application before the portfolio review when possible; it is strongly recommended but not required before portfolio submission

SlideRoom applications for 2027 entry are expected to open in early August 2026

Early Decision SlideRoom and UConn application deadline is November 1, 2026

First-year regular SlideRoom portfolio deadline for Design & Technical Theatre is January 1, 2027

First-year UConn application deadline is January 15, 2027

Submit UConn app by December 1 for merit scholarship and Honors Program consideration

Admission decisions are not made until Undergraduate Admissions receives portfolio review results

Important Notes

Recommended: select Theatre Studies BA as second-choice major to keep another Dramatic Arts pathway open

What's The Process

Audition Process

Submit the digital portfolio through SlideRoom by January 1, 2027

Design and Technical Theatre faculty review the portfolio before inviting applicants to interview

Faculty look for visual and/or aural expression, response to dramatic material, and fit with the program

Qualifying applicants interview virtually with a member of the Design Faculty

Interviews are 15-20 minutes and include time for applicant questions
