Training
•The General BA track requires six semesters of Applied Music (MUSI 1222) alongside core coursework in music history, theory, and aural skills, with upper-division MUSI 3222 study optional rather than required
•The degree underwent curricular revision specifically to support students combining serious music study with a second major or minor elsewhere at UConn
Performance & Productions
•General BA students take the same ensemble placement auditions as every other music major, giving access to UConn's roughly 28 annual ensembles and about 130 annual performances, including at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts
Notable Alumni
•Meredith Hansen (BA Music 1999) debuted with the Metropolitan Opera in its Ring Cycle production
•Myles Mocarski (BA Music 2016) is pursuing a DMA at the University of Maryland, where he holds an ensemble assistantship, while maintaining a private violin studio of over 30 students across the country
Degree Flexibility
•Unlike UConn's BM tracks, the General BA leaves room to add a second major or minor outside the School of Fine Arts while still meeting NASM-accredited degree requirements
