•Bachelor of Music in Education (BMEd) requires 132 credit hours pairing musicianship with pedagogy: music theory, aural skills, music history survey, solfege studies for music educators, teaching instrumental music, marching band techniques, and teaching vocal music
•Field-based preparation through observation and hands-on teaching experience in public school classrooms, alongside developmental psychology coursework, builds toward Oklahoma teacher certification
Performance & Productions
•Music Education majors perform regularly in large ensembles, chamber groups, and choral settings — including the UCO Choral Society's Concert Chorale, University Choir, and Second Street Singers vocal jazz group — while training to lead their own future classrooms and rehearsal halls

•Access to All-Steinway School pianos, a MIDI Lab with SmartMusic, Finale, and Auralia ear-training software, and Wenger sound-isolation V-Rooms for recording self-assessment practice tapes
