PROGRAM OVERVIEW
•Designed to prepare students for careers in theatre and entertainment that support stage work
•Five specializations: Applied Performance, Administration & Directing, Technical Production, Education, and Theatre Studies/Dramaturgy
•Each specialization requires a paired minor or second major for a well-rounded career focus
•Students take the same core courses as all theatre majors, providing a thorough foundation
•Approximately 60 students accepted per year
PERFORMANCE & PRODUCTION
•Students may audition for Theatre UCF productions and participate in backstage areas
•Opportunities to work with Central Florida Community Arts, The Renaissance Theatre, Orlando Family Stage, and Orlando Shakes
•Independent study courses available in cooperation with community arts organizations

Submission Requirements
BEFORE APPLYING
•Declare Theatre Pending as major in MyUCF
•Complete New Student Info form (contact theatre@ucf.edu for link)
CORE PREREQUISITE COURSES (C or better required)
•THE 2000 — Theatre Survey (GEP)
•THE 2081C — Introduction to UCF Theatre
•ARH 2051 — History of Western Art 2 (GEP)
•THE 2305 — Script Analysis for Theatre
•TPP 2110C — Acting 1 (or any introductory Acting class)
•TPA 2200 & TPA 2200L — Introduction to Technical Theatre and Lab (or any introductory Stagecraft class)
•THE 3311 — Theatre History and Dramatic Literature I
•TPA 2290L — Backstage Theatre Participation
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
•Complete at least one specialization prerequisite course
•Declare a specialization-approved minor or second major
•Complete or select language for Foreign Language Proficiency Requirement
•Maintain 3.0 or better Theatre GPA

What's The Process
ADMISSION PROCESS
•No audition required for admission to the BA Theatre program
•Students apply directly through UCF Undergraduate Admissions first
•Formally apply to BA Theatre program after completing prerequisite courses
HOW TO APPLY
•Program application link found in the department webcourse "Theatre Info and Updates" or via the department form
•Students are welcome (but not required) to audition for Theatre UCF productions
IMPORTANT
•Once accepted into a specialization, changes are unlikely to be approved
Scholarship Info
NAMED SCHOLARSHIPS
•Diane and Lawrence Wink Theatre Scholarship — juniors/seniors with 3.5+ Theatre GPA and documented involvement in multiple Theatre UCF productions; separate application required
•Tom Begley/Lani Harris Memorial Scholarship — for students committed to design technology, acting, musical theatre, or theatre studies; requires separate application and essay
•Mark Brotherton Memorial Scholarship — one full-time junior or senior theatre major (up to $1,000); 3.0+ GPA; preference given to BFA students
GENERAL AWARDS
•Departmental scholarships awarded on basis of talent and potential (not need)
•Competition based on audition, portfolio review, interview, recommendations, GPA, and theatre participation
•Scholarship recipients must work 4 hours weekly (60 hours/semester) and maintain 3.0 Theatre GPA
ADDITIONAL AID
•Out-of-State Tuition Waivers available
•Talent Grant Scholarships awarded by faculty annually based on departmental contribution and talent (generally for continuing students)
