Training
•The 22-unit minor pairs 16 units of upper-division electives — spanning jazz and rock history, film music, world-music surveys, and electronic music composition — with 6 units of ensemble participation
•Ensemble options include Symphony Orchestra under Music Director Christian Baldini, Chamber Singers and Chorus under Nicolás Dosman, Jazz Bands under Otto Lee, Concert Band, Indonesian Gamelan, and Afro-Cuban percussion/samba ensembles
Facilities
•Minor students rehearse and perform in the Ann E. Pitzer Center, a 399-seat, LEED Gold-certified recital hall with adjustable acoustics, five teaching studios, and six practice rooms
•Larger ensemble concerts, including UC Davis Symphony Orchestra performances, are staged at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts
Value
•The minor's elective menu spans applied lessons (open to all majors, roughly ten half-hour sessions per quarter) alongside academic coursework, making it a flexible add-on for students combining music with an unrelated major
