Training
•The 24-unit Film Studies minor requires the department's core Introduction to Film course (CDM 001) plus 20 elective units, capped at two courses from each of five categories — Problems & Themes in Cinema, Cinema/Nation/Nationality, Film & Social Identities, Film/Video Production, and Popular & Visual Culture
•Unlike the BA's production-and-theory split, the minor is weighted toward critical studies, giving non-majors a structured path into film history, theory, and cultural analysis
Facilities
•Minor students can take production electives using the same Cruess Hall Media Lab and Art Annex computer, sound, and electronics labs available to BA students, and screen course films in Cruess Hall's 200- and 85-seat theaters
Value
•Open to any UC Davis undergraduate, the minor pairs well with majors such as English, Communication, or Technocultural Studies for students who want formal film analysis training without a full production sequence
