Training
•BA curriculum led by Chair Margaret Laurena Kemp and Professor Jon D. Rossini, who teaches playwriting, dramaturgy, and Latinx theatre, with additional training in design and technical production from faculty including Senior Continuing Lecturer Michele Apriña Leavy, a professional actor with credits at American Conservatory Theater and Berkeley Repertory Theatre
•Every major completes production work in at least two of three areas — performance, design, and directing/playwriting/stage management — plus required crew assignments and production lab work before graduating
Notable Alumni
•Dahlak Brathwaite (BA English and Theatre & Dance, 2008) performed on HBO's Def Poetry Jam and has presented work at SXSW, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Smithsonian, Ars Nova, The Apollo, and Off-Broadway •Jeffrey Carlson (BA 1997) played Zarf/Zoe Luper on ABC's All My Children and starred as Prince Hal in Chicago Shakespeare Theater's Henry IV, a production that transferred to the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon Facilities
•Productions are staged across the historic Wyatt Pavilion Theatre (built 1907, one of the oldest original structures still standing on campus), the Main Theatre and Arena black box in Wright Hall, and the 250-seat Vanderhoef Studio Theatre at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts
•Dance work is based in the Della Davidson Performance Studio in Nelson Hall
