Training
•Majors build advanced training in one of three specializations — Dance Technique, Choreography, or History & Theory of Dance — and complete a minimum of four semesters of modern/contemporary technique in the Western concert dance tradition.
•The choreography sequence runs through Sources of Movement (144) or Movement Improvisation (148) before Choreography: Solo & Duet Showcase (146A).
Performance & Productions
•An annual spring concert features students performing alongside faculty and guest-artist repertory pieces, cast through competitive evaluation.
Facilities
•Technique classes and rehearsals are based in the dedicated Bancroft Dance Studio at 2401 Bancroft Way, with major productions staged in the 547-seat Zellerbach Playhouse.
Degree Flexibility
•No audition is required to declare the major — admission runs through coursework and GPA review rather than a live or recorded audition.
