Scholarship Audition and Portfolio Requirements

Optional audition and portfolio for scholarship consideration only; they are not required for program admission.

Optional Scholarship Materials

•Headshot uploaded via Acceptd

•Theatre resume uploaded via Acceptd

Audition Videos

•Optional for scholarship applicants

•Two contrasting monologues, 60 seconds each — one comedic and one serious

•Each piece filmed/uploaded as a separate video — no continuous videos

•Slate at the beginning of each piece (not a separate video) — state your name, title of the play, and the playwright

Digital Portfolio

•Optional for scholarship applicants

•Submit a PowerPoint, Word, or PDF document with images

•Include up to a dozen good quality photographs with brief descriptions

•May feature design work, technical work, or stage management documents

For Designers and Technicians

•Design work: renderings, sketches, models, production photos

•Technical work: ground plans, set construction, scene painting, costume construction, craftwork

•Samples of drawings, paintings, sculptures, or other non-theatre artwork

For Stage Managers

•Sample pages from a Production Book

What's The Process

Audition Process

•No audition or interview is required for admission to the General Theatre track

•Students interested in Theatre Department scholarships may submit audition videos and/or a digital portfolio through Acceptd

•The current Acceptd package lists an optional on-campus scholarship audition/interview on February 6, 2027

•After the scholarship application is submitted, UAB contacts applicants to confirm any audition or interview details
