Repertoire
•Saxophone, trumpet, trombone: perform two contrasting standard tunes, preferably from memory
•Rhythm section (piano, drumset, guitar, acoustic/electric bass): accompany from a chord chart or lead sheet in bop, Latin, fusion, jazz/rock, rock, and pop styles
•Drummers: perform four- and twelve-bar solos, demonstrate rudiments, and play standard drum-set patterns (bebop, jazz waltz, bossa nova, samba, funk, R&B, rock)
•Vocalists: prepare two American popular-songbook standards (one medium-swing, one ballad), preferably from memory
Sight-Reading
•Required; applicants provide their own play-along recordings (Aebersold or LearnJazzStandards preferred, iReal acceptable)
Accompaniment
•A staff accompanist is provided; you may also bring your own. Bring printed copies of your music for the accompanist.
