Audition Requirements

Letters of Recommendation (Required)

One letter from someone who can speak to your potential — a music teacher, band, orchestra, or choir director, private instructor, or non-music mentor who knows you well

Interview

Submit a recorded "interview" video answering the Music Education faculty's provided questions

Repertoire

Audition on your principal brass instrument using the Wind and Percussion Area repertoire requirements (trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, or tuba)

Application Logistics

Apply to the University of Arizona; the Fall 2027 university application opens August 1, 2026

The current School of Music portal states that undergraduate BM applicants no longer submit an Acceptd application

Confirm 2027 recorded-audition submission or live-audition scheduling instructions directly with the School of Music

Apply by the November 1 Early Action deadline to maximize university admission and merit-aid consideration

Placement

Admitted students take music theory and aural-skills placement exams at orientation; these are for course placement, not admission

Transfer Pathway

BM Music Education publishes a Sample 2+2 Plan for Arizona transfer students. Applicants still complete UA admission plus the School of Music audition and recorded interview process.

Audition Process

Audition on your principal instrument or voice using that studio's repertoire requirements, taken by recorded upload, live online, or live in-person on campus

Submit a recorded "interview" video answering the Music Education faculty's provided questions

Scheduled live audition dates: February 19 and March 5, 2027
