No audition is required for the initial application. The optional scholarship review (audition) is separate from the internal audition gate students complete after enrollment.Gateway source

Optional Portfolio

Submit work in any dance style that best represents you

Raw class footage, rehearsal clips, or informal recordings are all welcome

Format Guidance

There is no required format or length; Tulane suggests no more than 5 minutes total

You may instead submit up to 10 images if you are sharing stills

Submission Notes

Include a brief description or title with each submission

If you are sharing group work, indicate how to identify you (costume color, position, etc.)

Apply via Common App for freshman admission — no audition required

Submit optional dance portfolio via Green Wave Portal prior to December 5

Admission Pathway

BFA is not available to incoming freshmen

Begin in BA Dance, then audition for BFA in spring of sophomore year

Invited auditions only — faculty select candidates

Continuous enrollment in technique classes through graduation required

Students audition for BFA by invitation in spring of sophomore year

Program Requirements

Maximum of 24 dance technique credits may count toward the 120 hours for graduation

Transfer Pathway

Transfer applicants enter Tulane through the university transfer process, then follow the Dance Program pathway. BFA Dance candidates audition by invitation in the spring semester of sophomore year after completing the BA audition path.
