Scholarship Audition Requirements

Optional audition for scholarship consideration - not required for program admission.

Songs

TWO CONTRASTING SONGS

•At least one song must be in a foreign language from the classical art song repertoire

•One selection may be an opera/oratorio aria or musical theatre piece

•Selections should be memorized (strongly preferred)

•An accompanist will be provided for in-person auditions

Sight Reading

•Two to three short sight-reading selections sung a cappella

•Choice of neutral syllable or solfege

Scholarship Application

•Complete the Music Scholarship Application form at least 2 weeks prior to audition

•Students may audition at any time in the application process

•Do not wait until after receiving admission decision

Eligibility

•All prospective incoming first-year students eligible regardless of intended major

•Sophomore, Junior, Senior, and Graduate students not eligible

•University application must be completed prior to deadline for scholarship offer

Renewal

•Awards renewable for eight semesters with continued full-time enrollment

•Must participate in one or more performing ensembles

What's The Process

Scholarship Audition (Optional)

•Music scholarship audition is optional for all incoming first-year students

•Audition is for scholarship consideration only, not required for admission

•Available to music majors and non-majors alike

Audition Format

•In-person auditions encouraged (schedule during campus visit dates or separately)

•Virtual/electronic auditions accepted (video preferred, audio-only accepted)

•Electronic submissions due by 11:59 PM on February 28

•Arrive 10 minutes early for in-person auditions to rehearse with accompanist

Process

•Complete the Music Scholarship Application form (deadline: February 20)

•Schedule audition date on the application form

•Faculty member in your performance area will confirm the date

•Award decisions made after all auditions complete; notification in mid-March
