Training
•The Composition concentration is Trinity's 64-credit Bachelor of Music in Composition, with private composition study at its center and supporting work in theory, counterpoint, orchestration, electronic music, and broad musicianship.
•Students develop a creative voice through repeated drafting, revision, analysis, notation, and individual mentorship across multiple styles and media.
Performance & Productions
•Original works are performed by student and professional ensembles on and off campus, giving composers the rare chance to hear ideas realized by live musicians and to learn from the performance process.
•Collaboration with performers and ensembles makes composition an active part of Trinity's musical community rather than an isolated writing exercise.
Professional Development
•Graduates continue into composition, theory, music technology, and related graduate study or use their skills in production, recording, audio design, songwriting, arranging, and creative industries.
Facilities
•The Smith Music Building, Laurie Auditorium, Margarite B. Parker Chapel, and the department's 16+ ensembles provide settings for rehearsal, experimentation, and public presentation.
