Recorded Audition (Embark)
•Guitar: consider two different styles, multi-tracking, looping, or effects; playing with others or a backing track is fine
•Keyboards: show improvisation, harmonic knowledge, and technique across the two pieces
•Bass and drums: provide contrasting pieces showing technique and the ability to groove
•Multi-instrumentalists: submit your two videos on different instruments
•Other instruments welcome (e.g. harp, saxophone, cello, violin, flute) — choose works relevant to popular music
Process
•Step 1: Apply via UCAS Conservatoires
•Step 2: Upload three videos to Embark
•Step 3: If shortlisted, attend a 25-minute interview (online or in person)
Live Interview
•25-minute interview if shortlisted after video review
•Attend online or in person at King Charles Court; there are no live auditions
•Short musicianship assessment: rhythm, harmony, and listening skills (may include interval and chord recognition)
