Training
•Acting concentration requires Intermediate Acting and The Expressive Voice, then Directing and Devising Performance or Directing, Writing for Stage and Screen or Playwrights Workshop, one 300-level theater technique course, and one theater history course
•Majors complete three departmental productions (two faculty- or guest-artist-directed) and 90 hours of design or production work toward the degree
Performance & Productions
•Two annual main-stage theater productions and two annual dance concerts anchor the season, alongside student-directed readings, workshop presentations, and directing projects that give Acting concentrators added stage time
•HartBeat Ensemble, a Hartford-based professional theater company, is resident company at Austin Arts Center through at least 2028, and its residency includes student internships alongside its own productions and workshops
•Department-facilitated internships are available at Hartford performing arts organizations including Hartford Stage, HartBeat Ensemble, Real Art Ways, and TheaterWorks
Study Abroad
•The Trinity/La MaMa Performing Arts Semester (founded 1986) places students at La MaMa E.T.C. in New York City for an academic seminar, arts internship, practice classes, weekly performances, and a student-created original production
