•Use a poetic piece with heightened language; English translations are acceptable
•No restriction on time period, culture, or form if the text is poetic
•Choose language for sound and suggestive power rather than naturalistic speech
SPEECH B - CONTEMPORARY MONOLOGUE, 2 MIN MAX
•Naturalistic/contemporary piece written after 1960
•Should clearly contrast with Speech A
