Portfolio
•Bullet: Submit the portfolio as a single PDF containing both parts below, and note at the top whether you chose Option A or Option B
•Bullet: Part 1 — statement of intent (250 words): why you are interested in a career in music, what draws you to the industry, why you are pursuing a university education, and why you are a good fit for the program
•Bullet: Part 2, Option A — artist option: a portfolio demo of an original music project you created, either a single piece or a compilation, and collaborators are allowed
◦Sub-bullet: The portfolio demo can be a solo or group/band recording, electronic music, a beat, a production, or an arrangement
◦Sub-bullet: The portfolio demo must be your own original work and must not exceed 4 minutes; work created within the past 2 years is encouraged
◦Sub-bullet: Share the portfolio demo as a public audio or video link; private Google Drive links are not accepted
◦Sub-bullet: Add a 500-word portfolio write-up covering your role in the music (producer, songwriter, singer), the genre and its historical antecedents, the musical structure, and the creative process
•Bullet: Part 2, Option B — music business professional option: instead of a demo, write a 500-word essay plus citations discussing 2 of the best methods of music discovery and the business pros and cons of each
Letters of Recommendation
•Bullet: Two completed reference forms are required for admission consideration
•Bullet: The first reference must come from a current or past academic reference such as a guidance counsellor, teacher, or professor
•Bullet: The second reference may be another academic reference or a collaborator, supervisor, or employer who works with you in a musical or professional capacity
•Bullet: Enter each referee's contact details in the ChooseTMU Applicant Portal; they receive the reference form and instructions by email
•Bullet: Confirm that each reference form's status shows Received before the deadline
