No Admission Audition Required
•Students apply to the College of Wooster as BA Music candidates
•No audition needed to enroll
Gateway Entrance Audition
•Entrance audition before a faculty jury of three near the end of the second semester
•Only after passing may the student declare BM Music Performance as their major
•Notify the department chair in writing at least three weeks before the audition
•Second opportunity available in the third semester if the first attempt is unsuccessful
Repertoire
•Challenging repertoire representing several contrasting historical periods and styles on your principal instrument
•Performed at a high level before the faculty jury
•Auditions offered on bassoon, cello, clarinet, electric bass, euphonium, flute, French horn, guitar, oboe/English horn, organ, percussion, saxophone, string bass, trombone, trumpet, tuba, viola, violin, and bagpipe
Scales & Technique
•Be prepared to demonstrate scales and technical exercises appropriate to your instrument and level
Accompaniment
•Staff collaborative pianist provided for live auditions
-Email PDFs of sheet music at least 2 weeks before the audition
-Brief rehearsal with the pianist before the audition
•May bring your own pianist
•Pre-recorded accompaniment accepted for recorded auditions (email files at least 1 week before; mp3, mp4, mov)
Scholarship Audition (Optional)
•Music Scholarship for incoming first-years: $2,000-$8,000 per year
•On-campus audition at Scheide Music Center
•Virtual auditions available by request (contact Melissa Puster)
•Must audition as an incoming first-year (transfers not eligible)
