Scholarship Audition and Portfolio Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Optional audition and portfolio for scholarship consideration only; they are not required for program admission.

Monologues

Two Contrasting Monologues

Prepare and memorize two contrasting monologues, one classical and one contemporary

The classical monologue should preferably be Shakespeare

Use acceptable published works; stand-up routines, screenplays, and original work are not accepted

Each monologue should last about one minute

Resume

Acting scholarship audition applicants should bring a brief resume listing productions, roles, production organizations, other theatre positions, and awards or honors

Design and technical scholarship applicants should submit a brief resume listing productions, design responsibility, specific work performed, production organization, and awards or honors

Portfolio

Design and technical scholarship applicants should submit examples, photos, or drawings of designs and finished products

In-person applicants should submit the portfolio and resume at least one week before the audition day

What's The Process

Audition Process

The theatre audition or submission is for talent scholarship consideration, not admission to the BA Theatre major

Students may audition in acting or submit design and technical materials

Incoming students may audition during an on-campus personal visit, the Kathryn Albertson Scholarship Competition, or a scheduled audition day

In-person auditions are held at the Langroise Center for the Performing & Fine Arts

Audition Expectations

Acting applicants may submit a YouTube audition video with an introduction followed by the two prepared monologues

Design and technical applicants may submit a portfolio for a faculty discussion
