Training
•Tennessee Tech's Bachelor of Music Instrumental/General Music, K-12 Licensure program leads to Tennessee teacher licensure and combines music history, theory, pedagogy, conducting, private study, and large-ensemble performance.
•Instrumental music-education majors maintain private Applied Music instruction and an Ensemble of Record during each full-time residency semester.
•The School of Music publishes a required techniques-class sequence for instrumental majors, with different course progressions for woodwind, brass, percussion, string, guitar, and piano primary instruments.
•This pathway prepares future school band and orchestra directors as well as general music teachers.
Degree Flexibility
•Students apply to the College of Education & Human Sciences Teacher Education Program after 30 credit hours and file an additional application before the Residency Year.
