MTCP Song Option B

Two Contrasting songs, 60-90 sec each

One song written before 1970 in any genre

One song written after 1970 in any genre, contrasting the style of the first selection

Must sing to musical accompaniment (live or pre-recorded) — no a cappella

Monologues

MTCP Monologue Option A

One Monologue from a published play or written by a professional writer

A professional writer is someone whose plays have been produced but may not have been professionally published

Dance

MTCP Dance Option B

Dance Options

Option A: Show Your Best Version

Show your best version of dancing or moving

Must include at least one turn, one jump, and one kick (or other rotation, elevation, and extension that works for your body)

Option B: Ballet

No more than 60 seconds

Execute a brief series of plié, tendu, and grande battement

Execute pirouette en déhors (to both sides)

Execute one or more grand jeté across the floor

Musical Theatre is the most competitive emphasis — indicating MT as a secondary interest from another emphasis application will not qualify for an MT audition

Audition Process

Submit complete profile via Acceptd

Prescreen approval decisions typically take about two weeks

If approved, you will receive an email to schedule your audition

Audition Expectations

Auditions scheduled either in-person or virtual after prescreen approval

Three components: singing, acting, and dancing

On-campus auditions include a separate dance call

In-person and virtual receive equal consideration

Acceptance process is rolling — all decisions by end of March

Department Scholarships

All BFA applicants automatically considered through entrance audition or portfolio review

BA students not eligible for departmental scholarships

Nordan Fine Arts Scholarship

Open to entering first-year students of superior talent

Must have 12 or fewer semester hours of academic credit

Renewable for up to three years as Nordan Scholars

Requires 3.0 GPA in area of study

Must meet TCU academic standards for non-probationary students

Production & Activity Scholarships

Renewable scholarships in exchange for 10 hours of weekly production work

Areas include Scenic Studio, Costume Studio, Lighting and Sound, Props, Box Office
