One shakespeare verse monologue

One contemporary monologue

Material Guidelines

Do not use props, sets, dialect, or costumes

Make sure pieces are age-appropriate

Statement of Purpose (Required)

One page, two to three paragraphs

Describe yourself, hobbies, interests, strengths and weaknesses

Include career aspirations and why you want to pursue a BFA in theatre

Explain why SUU, if applicable

Be honest — do not write what you think they want to hear

BFA auditions for current SUU students take place during March season audition period

Video submission deadline: February 28, 2026

State your name and pieces at the beginning of your first monologue

Zoom: February 7 and February 28, 2026

In-Person: February 14, 2026 (check-in at 8:45 a.m.)

Department contacts you after Acceptd application to schedule a time

Students interested in both Acting and Musical Theatre should apply under Musical Theatre and select the option to also audition for Acting

Audition Expectations

Individual audition followed by a short interview

After all private auditions: 1-hour masterclass and movement group class

Bring clothes to move in

Scholarship Info

All BFA applicants automatically considered for departmental scholarships
