Training
•The 30-credit Music liberal arts concentration combines music study with Geneseo's BSEd in Early Childhood and Childhood Education.
•Required coursework includes Elements of Music Theory and Thinking Through Music, with choices in jazz, Western music, ethnomusicology, folk music and harmony.
•Nine elective credits come from 200- or 300-level music courses outside performance and applied study.
•Six applied-study credits can include choral or instrumental organizations, guitar, piano, voice and other instrumental study.
Professional Development
•Education coursework includes 150 hours of field experience before student teaching, with school placements arranged by education faculty and the Office of Field Experiences.
