Monologues

MONOLOGUE REQUIREMENTS

•60-90 seconds

•From a published play or written by a professional writer

•A professional writer is someone whose plays have been produced but may not have been professionally published

•Monologues cannot be from musicals

•Age-appropriate material recommended (within 5-10 years of actual age)

•Active monologues preferred — real-time scenes with an imaginary scene partner work best

•Avoid monologues relying on extreme emotions

Wild Card

•No more than 60 seconds

•No slate required

•This media can be ANYTHING you want — a special skill, an interesting story about yourself, a passion speech, an instrument you play, etc.

•"What do you want us to know about you?" and "What makes you unique?"

Additional Materials

Statement of purpose (required)

•Short essay describing where you see yourself in 10 years and why you want to pursue a career on stage/screen

•Upload in the "Application Portfolio" section on Acceptd

•If applying for both Acting and MT, submit one audition following Musical Theatre guidelines

•Applications without audition automatically considered for Interdisciplinary Theatre Studies BFA
