Training
•Bullet: The Piano Pedagogy Certificate requires at least 30 credit hours and combines music theory and music history with three applied components: piano performance, piano-teaching concepts and supervised practice teaching.
•Bullet: The teaching sequence is intended to prepare pianists for studio instruction or class-piano teaching in a home or community-school setting.
Professional Development
•Bullet: Supervised practice teaching moves pedagogical ideas into observed instructional work, while the performance component keeps the teacher's own musicianship active.
Degree Flexibility
•Bullet: SFA publishes a four-semester completion path. Students may pursue the certificate part time or alongside another degree program, allowing current piano students to add a teaching credential without replacing their primary course of study.
